IFLA Europe 2026 in Riga: Landscape Architecture in Times of Change
From 2 to 4 September, Riga will host the IFLA Europe Conference 2026, this year dedicated to the theme “Landscape in Transition”. 5. – 6. septembrī notiks IFLA Europe Ģenerālā asambleja.
The conference will focus on the transformation of European landscapes driven by climate change, biodiversity loss, social and economic shifts, cultural and political change, and the impacts of armed conflicts. The event will explore practical and innovative solutions for building a more resilient future while preserving cultural heritage, local identity, and natural processes.
The Conference programme is structured around four thematic areas:
- Shifting Grounds,
- Shared Places,
- Patterns of Change
- Memory of Places.
The conference is designed as a platform for dialogue between research, professional practice, policymaking, and education, with a particular focus on the role of landscape architecture in creating more sustainable, inclusive, and regenerative living environments.
